Description

The IslandLink Library Federation brings an array of puppetry programs to different library branches. The Primary Puppet Camps offer three days of interactive puppet shows. Working with a puppet and a host, the children brainstorm solutions to problems, draw pictures, play games and craft puppets to take home.

Highlights - what worked well?

Children love the crafting portion in which they make their own puppets. We often ask them questions about the personalities of the puppets they make, and they enjoy making crazy characters for them.

What were the goals/objectives of your program?

To promote literacy and offer fun puppetry programming to libraries that are part of the IslandLink Library Federation.

What would you change about this program?

We run these programs for three days in a row for scheduling purposes, but I think it could be really lovely to run a five day intensive version or alternately, have it run once a week.
